LADJ liS' TOURNAMENT. A' WIX FOR NEI-SOX. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Now Zealand ladies' hockey tournament ciune to a conclusion in line weather to-day, when ttie Ilawke's Bay and Nelson teams played the final for the championship. A good game resulted in a win for Nelson l>y 2 goals to 1, thereby wresting the championship from Uawke's Bay, who were holding' it. A large crowd of spectators witnessed the hard-fought game, enthusiasm being high. Pl'ay on both sides was brilliant. From the commencement Ilawke's Bay attacked, but Xdson returned with a great forward rush, the backs putting up tine defence work. Hawke's Bay forwards were beaten whenever they attempted to invade their opponents' half. Nelson continually had 1 the Ilawke's Bay rearguard l in trouble. Five minutes before hit'lif-tinic Nelson charged down, ousted Ilawke's B.iv backs, and (from a hard centre from right wing Miss Simpson registered the first goal. Miss M. -Morrison, Uawke's Bay goalkeeper, cleared the shot, but the ball ■ caught her sister's boot and glanced into the li'et before it could -be stopped. In th 6 second, spell Nelson attacked strongly, but ITawke's Bay rallied, and attacked in turn. Missj Smith passed out to Mrs. Harrison, who returned to Miss Crowley, and the totter registered Hanvke's Bay's only goal. AVhen the whistle sounded the scores were one goal each. As one team had to win, play was resumed. Uawke's Bay were fresh, and Xdson were weakening. Vigorous play resulted, but no score was registered in the first fifteen minutes. Then Nelson got n cornea' hit, from which Miss Carrick hit into goal, and the g-ame ended soon afterwards.

After the game the lion. All'. Millar presented tire cup to the winners, and congraitulnted both teams.
