It instructed the Parliamentary Committee to co-operate with the Labor Party in formulating a scheme for the unification of the various labor sections. Objectors argued that the introduction of politics would be detrimental to the usefulness of the Congress. TROUBLES IN* AUSTRALIA. Sydney, September 11. The proprietors of the Collie Burn mine, declining further concessions to miners, have closed down the mine.
Owing to the strike of bricklayers at Perth a complete stoppage of building operations is likely. THE WALLSEND WHEELERS. Sydney, September H. The Wallsend wheelers have declined to accept the miners' advice to return to work and submit their grievances to arbitration.
The Employees' Federation lias called a meeting of Wallsend Lodge, at which a ballot will be taken on the question of miners doing the wheeling. This they refused, but a ballot of the whole of the members of the Federation on the subject is now being taken. Should the result be against the miners wheeling, the position will be extremely grave.
BARMEN AND BARMAIDS.
Received 11, 11.40 p.m. London, September 11. A meeting of barmen and barmaids at Hyde Park formed a national union, with the object of gaining higher wages and shorter hours. The speakers asserted that many were working a hundred hours weekly.
