When lie got home hp was having a smoke, when an explosion occurred, and the pipe was blown from his month, and a cartridge went through the iron roof. The. cartridge had got into hi* pipe when in his pocket, and he had not noticed it when putting the tobacco into it. The old fellow got a terrible fright, but, fortunately, escaped without injury.
