Lord ITnlsbury's activities as an octogenarian are rivalled by the intellectual and physical energy of Lord Macnaghten, one of the Lords (if Appeals in Ordinary, who is in his> eighty-second year, and who lias now become a baronet owing to the death without male issue of his elder brother, the Right TTon. Sir Francis Macnaghten (says the Westminster Gazette). Lord Macnaghtcn's greatgrandfather, Edmund Macnaghtcn, when a boy of ten years, was taken by his mother in MIS!) to the city of Londonderry, where he remained with bis uncle during the whole of the memorable siege. Lord Macnnghten was thirteen years old in 1543 when his grandfather, the son of Edmund Macnaghten, died, and therefore a man whose father had been one of the besieged in Londonderry 223 years ago.
