A PITCHED BATTLE
FRENCH FOOD RIOTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Paris, September 7. Women assailed the market at Dunkirk and attempted to seize the goods. The farmers' wives resisted, and in a pitched battle the countrywomen were successful, and threw some of their assailants into the canal, whence they were rescued by gendarmes. A meeting of two thousand women at Troves drafted a reasonable price-list for provisions, and annexed the goods when the tariff was refused.
