A REPORTER CARPETED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. Something in the nature of the courlmartialling of a member of No. 3 Company Field Engineers occurred iask night, when Captain Suera ordered a member 'of the company for an article appearing in the Star under the beading "Territorial Terrors," to slam! out, and addressed, him on the enormity of his offence. Ho said that the member, who is also a member of the Star reporting staff, had been responsible for dragging the force into ridicule, lie could not. walk along the street without someone advising him to get bis hair cut. He explained it was not the wish ol' the officers that the men 'should be -uhjceled to a criminal hair cut. As the result of the publication of this story. Captain Shera added, authority bad been given for Territorials to wear their hair as they pleased, but the scheme was only in it's primary stages, and they understood this bad been said only a- a matter of policy, lie added that Staff-Major Robinson had spoken to the men ,by bis (Captain Sliera's) instruction, and was in no way lo .blame. Captain Shera dismissed the company, except, the reporter, who was called 'before the captain, who demanded a 'statement which the reporter hesitated to sign until he had bad an onnortunity of consulting his employers. Captain Shera in-istod. and Hie reporter signed a statement to the effect that he solely was responsible for the article, alter which he was allowed to depart.
