HIDE AND i TALLOW SALES. \ XEWTOX KING'S REPORT, i On Tuesday, Auprust 2!l. 1 held my usual four-weekly sale of the above produce, llii' catalogue comprising 23 bales and 127 sacks of wool, 3104 sheepskins, l(i casks and 75 tins (allow, 1003 hides, 3450 calfskins, and the usual assortment of horsehair, tails, bones, etc. Competition for all lines was very keen throughout the sale. Sheepskins and wool, which consisted mostly of crutchings, were on a par to '/ 4 d higher. Tallow advanced £1 to ,tll 10s per ton. Average class of butcher hides were on par with last sale's prices, poorer sorts and damaged, however, sold better to an extent of y ß d to y 4 d per lb. Farmers' hides showed a marked increase, damaged sorts particularly selling well.
