ENTERTAINMENTS

SAUNDERS' PICTURES. The principal attraction at; Whiteley Hall last niglit was the, splendid picture produced by the Australian Life Biograph Company, "A Ticket in Tatt's." it is a melodrama of strongly sensational type, which points an aiitl-gamb-ling moral m-ith an intensity that at times becomes very pronounced indeed. The central figure in the story is a young man named Hare, who is dismissed from his "mployment because he persists in attending a race meeting against the -wishes of his employer. Hare seeks a way out of the difficulties that ensue hy purchasing a ticket in "Tatt's." He draws a favorite, and wins a large amount of money, but this easily-attained prosperity proves his bane. Encouraged by his success, ho embarks upon a wild course of drinking .and gambling, which ends only when a villainous associate named Fallon makes it appear that Hare has committed a murder, though Fallon himself is the actual murderer. Hare becomes a hunted fugitive, and only escapes from his plight after some months blackened by remorse and fear. Fallon is detected in an intrigue by his wife—an accomplice, in the murder—and retaliates by making an attack upon her. The woman, in a death-bed deposition, makes known the truth in regard to the murder. Fallon is arrested, and Hare is restored to his family, a sadder and a wiser man. This, however, does not exhaust the scope of the drama. Two remarkably fine race pictures are introduced. One shows the progress of a stirring steeplechase, and the other a flat, race on -the course at Adelaide. The picture will ha on again to-night for the last time. Another fine film of more than ordinary interest last night was "The Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Cardinal Moran's Cardinalate. October 2'?, 1010," and "The Funeral of the late Cardinal Moran." Both these pictures will be repeated to-night.
