The Kotuku finished her discharging operation on Saturday and sailed for Onehunga with the balance of her cargo of coal. A BIG CLAIM ABAXDOXED. There will be no further trouble over the. accident to the lvaipara in the Rangitoto Channel last year, so far as the Auckland Harbor Board and the New Zealand Shipping Company are concerned. The- Board received a letter the oilier dav from Messrs Russell and Campbell stating that the action in which the New Zealand Shipping Company claimed £1G3,000 for damages to the. Kaipara ca.ised bv her stranding last year had been discontinued, if the Board at the same time abandoned its claim to penalty dock dues. The chairman said this marked the end of the unfortunate affair of the Kaipara. Last week the writ claiming damages had been withdrawn, and he, in accordance with the Board's decision, had withdrawn the Board's claim for .0000 penalty dock dues. The chairman's action was approved, and it was decided to withdraw the Board's claim for £3, WO dock dues. The Board is not yet clear of the Kaipara, however, for a few months ago she bumped against the Railway \Yharf, and an investigation into that accident is to be held.
