There have been numerous desertions from the Canadian cruiser Rainbow, which is stationed on the 'Pacific coast, as the rates of pay are lower than those offered ashore. "BOBS" AND THE CADETS. London, August 31. Lord Roberts is sending an autograph message through Major Wynne, commandant of the Australian cadets in England, expressing his appreciation of the invitation to visit Australia, of ' the establishment of compulsory service there, and bis delight at the appearance and conduct of the cadets.
