But the Melbourne can satisfy so far as suits are concerned, because their new suits are just as stylish and good as quality can make them, and they arc unusually eeonomioal in disposition. Special attention is directed to the sale of Jersey cattle which Mr. Newton King is holding at Junction road, New Plymouth, on Friday, September Bth, on account of Mr-. J. Hale, when some 41 choice pedigree and grade cows will be offered. The herd is an exceptionally fine one, having been very carefully built up by the vendor, who has gone to considerable expense in obtaining only the choicest milking strains, and it would be hard to find a more handsome herd of Jerseys in the Dominion. Every cow lias been carefuMy tested, and full and authenticated tests will be supplied at the sale. A pedigree will be supplied with most of the cows, but as Mr. Hale has always considered butterfat of primary importance he ha* not registered any of the herd in the New Zealand Herd Book. A brake for intending buyers will leave the mart at 11.30 a.m. Fine longcloths and madapolans are always to be found at White and Sons'. This is a thing to be remembered immediately ladies are thinking of summer underwear. Very choice qualities are just opening, and are priced from Od to 10y„d per yard. Both 30 and 40 inches wide cloths are in stock. The Is lid room tit the Busy Cash Store, opposite Carnegie Library, King street, is full of hundreds of useful articles. The French corsets in this room will be the talk of the town for days to come, and arc without doubt the most sensational offer the nrm has over inade. A. N.
