Webb and Kidston, representing the Carnegie Institute, Washington, have commenced a magnetic survey of Australia, which will form part of the survey of the world. METHODIST SEPAiRATION. Seven thousand persons attended the pontifical high ma«s in the Cathedral for the repose of the soul of the late Cardinal Moran. Archbishop Carr delivered delivered a panegyric on the late Cardinal. RAGGED SCHOOL MISSIONED. Adelaide, August 31. Sir John Kirk, of the Ragged School Union, was accorded a civic reception in the Town Ilall. He said that while Australia was building up a vast continent they were striving in the Motherland to build up human material, and he hoped to be able to bring the two together.
