Prior to Mr. Wade moving his want-of-confidence motion the Government was bombarded with questions regarding the election of Speaker and the removal of members. Enquirers were informed that the incident was closed. Mr. Wade's motion claims that the Government does not possess confidence, as owing to the position of the parties the House is unworkable, and its constitution a grave danger to the State. Mr. Beeby, replying, admitted tkat owing to the constitution of the House a general election was necessary, but it must be when the new electoral rolls had' been prepared, and in the early summer, not in the middle of winter. All he asked was the co-operation of members in passing a number of noneonteiitious matters, getting the finances on a. proper basis, and completing the electoral law. Then they would leave the matter in the hands of the electorates. The debato was adjourned.
THE COMING ELECTION. Sydney. August 31. Mr. Dolman, addressing a meeting, declared that ho had not the slightest doubt there would be a general election before the end of the year. A CONFLICT OK REPORTS. ' Received 1. 1.10 a.m. Sydney. August 31. In the Assembly members again questioned the notes and proceedings of, Parliament. Mr. Willis, the Speaker, intimated tbat he approved of the notes, which an? in conlliet with the Hansard report.
