ADMIRAL TOGO INTERVIEWED
DECLINES TO BE DRAWN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Ottawa, August 20. Admiral Togo, interviewed at Vancouver, paid a tribute to President Taft's work in, the cause of peace. He expressed the belief that aeroplanes were certain to play an important part in the naval warfare of the future, but did not believe that aeroplanes would be able to destroy battleships—at least, the present-day aeroplanes. He refused to speak on the strategic advantages of the Panama Canal, but emphasised its advantages from the point of view of the world's commerce.
