After Messrs Perry, Woods and Fitzpatrick had been removed, and Messrs Levy and Cohen warned, the Assembly calmed somewhat. Eventually both the privilege and dissent motions moved by Mr. Cohen were rejected, the former by 38 to 32, and the latter by 39 to 31. The privilege debate was cut short by the application of the closure. Pairs were asked for Messrs Wood and Fitepatrick after their removal, but refused. Messrs FUzpatrick and Levy declined the Speaker's nomination as deputychairman of committees, Mr. Levy on the ground that he had grave doubts ns to the Speaker's position, and Mr. Fitzpatrick because he declined to accept honors from Mr. Willis. The debate on the Address-in-Reply opened, and the House adjourned late. NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION. Received 31, 1.35 a.m. Sydney, August 30.
