A SHATTERED DREAM.
■MISS ETHEL BARRYMORE AND DIVORCE. Miss Ethel Barrymore, one of the most popular leading actresses in America', who for the past two years has been nationally regarded as the representative of an ideal type of domestic felicity harmonising with a stage career, is reported to have begun a suit for divorce from her husband, Mr. R. G. Colt, a millionaire stockbroker and a son of the multi-millionaire president of the Rubber Trust. Miss Barrymore, who is on tour at Los Angeles, refuses to talk, but her manager announces that the initial proceedings have been begun. Mr. Colt, who is in New York, declares that he is astonished, refuses to believe the statement, and denies any ground for action. Their marriage occurred two years ago after a few weeks' courtship, and only a few intimate, friends were invited to the ceremony, as Miss Barrymore desired to avoid publicity. A son was born a year ago.
