WELLINGTON HARBOR STAFF. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The Harbor Board has decided to ask Mr. W. Ferguson, late engineer and secretary to the board, and at present manager of the Wellington Gas Company, to report as to the reorganisation of the staff. AGRICULTURAL LABORERS. Christchurch, Yesterday. An application for an award filed by the Agricultural and Pastoral Laborers' Union against tho Shcepowners' Union came before the Conciliation Council this morning. The shcepowners took the position that there was no dispute, and declined to argue the case, which was forthwith referred to the Arbitration Court. DRY WEATHER DOWN SOUTH. Christchurch, Last Night. Fanners in Canterbury are complaining at present of the absence of muchneeded rain, and a comparison of rainfall recorded so far this month with the rainfall in the month of August for the past five or.six years shows that their complaint is well founded. July this year was also a dry month, comparatively speaking. Rain fell on seventeen days lost month, the total being 3.143 inches, as compared with 3.395 in 1006, 1.722 in 1907, 7.881 in 1908, 1.730 in 1909, and 6.043 in 1010. On four days only has rain been experienced during the present month from the Ist to the 29th inclusive, the tota] fall being 0.079 inches. In August, 1906, rain fell on eleven days, the total fall ibeing 1.582 inches; in 1007 on 14 days, 2.886 inches; in 1908, eight days, 0.743 inches; in 1009, 11 days, 2.405 inches; and in 1010, 12 days, 1.94 inches.
