The North Ta.ra.naki Hunt Club meeting which will take place on the New Plymouth racecourse to-morrow promises to provide an interesting afternoon's sport. Good entries are carded for all events. The Garrison Band will enliven proceedings', and the outward train being delayed, a good attendance of town and country people is expected. The first race starts at 12.30.

Jockey C. Cochrane, who has been an inmate of the Christchurch hospital since the National meeting, was well enough to leave that institution on Monday last.

Captain Jingle is enjoying a spell, and will not be taken up until the autumn. Ngapuka. is reported to be most fancied up North for the Avondale Cup. P'Nil. wlio broken down on the eve of the National meeting, is now quite well again. Ballarat has produced a foal to Advance.

Mr. William Macfartane lias .been selected to fill tlie late Mr. J. W. Emimerson's position of secretary to the Waverley Racing Club. Roval Soult claims many admirers for the Epsom Handicap, and will be ridden by A. Whittaker in that event. Tc Pnia recently joined J. M. Cameron's team at Hastings. The pony .Tack Delaval continues to show brilliant track form at Ellerslie, and may be hard to beat at Avondale next month.

Merrie Rose will not be persevered with and goes to the stud this season. It is stated that Corazon will be given a chance to distinguish himself in ■ , "» Liverpool Grand National. The N ■<' Zealander is a great jumper, and should give a good account of himself. Wirral will most likely be ta.ken to Sydney next month, where he is mire to pay his way in short steeplechases. Stourton is reported to lie jumping the small sticks verv nicely.

The crack Canterbury three-year-old, Antagonist, who was galloping brilliantly a lew weeks back, has again shown signs of lameness, and has ,l>een eased in his work. Domino and Advocate probably sport silk at AvondaOe. These horses will be keenly watched by' those who like to get in early for a' long shot at the Cup. A Southern writer! classes the Cup entrants as "some who] nearly were stood horses and some who never will be." Domino and Gold Finder are said to have most friends up north,' but Fort William, Goodwin Park and Merrivonia are liked in other quarters. The reported prices on offer against these prads show that the lavers are taking more chances with the law than with the horses. And the race is over! two months off yet! I
