As the next hold contained lyddite shells, the vessel was ordered to the outlying harbor, where Admiral Symons and a naval party boarded her and extinguished the fire. The cargo is now being unloaded. "HATS OFF, PLEASE." Berlin, August- 28. A police edict forbids women wearing hats or bonnets in any part of Berlin theatres, under a penaity of £5. Hatpins, have been previously forbidden. FATAL RAILWAY SMASH. New York, August 28. By the removal of a rail on the New York to Newhaven and Hartford line a train was wrecked at Middleton, in Connecticut. Sixty passengers were injured, one fatally.
