STRIKERS AND POLICE FIGHTING. By Cable—Prwut Association—Copyright. Received 29, 9.45 p.m. Sydney, August 20. A procession of a thousand strong, accompanied by a band, marched to Lithgow, demonstrating against the nonunionists. Received 30, 12.55 a.m. Sydney, August 29. Great excitement reigns at Lithgow. Soon after dark a horde of unionists raided the blast furnaces. All available police were called out to guard the nonunionists, and a fight ensued. A police sergeant was wounded in the head with a brick. The crowd appears to be in possession. The outbreak was the most serious in the district.
