THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By. Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast: — !fhe"" North Island and north-eastern parts of the South Island have been under the influence of a low pressure system which has brought much rain and strong southerly winds. ' Cold and changeable weather prevailed elsewhere, except in the southernmost districts, where unsettled and showery conditions have been reported. Present indications are for strong southerly winds, backing to westerly, with cloudy and unsettled weather generally. Heavy rain is probable on the East Coast of the North Island and showery conditions elsewhere. The barometer hag a slight tendency to rise, but a further fall is anticipated, especially in the south.
