THE WRONG DELILAH.
A POLITICAL METAPHOR AND A MISPRINT. A Canadian message states that a regrettable incident is reported by the leading newspaper of Saskatchewan in connection with a recent meeting held by Mr. Bordern, the Opposition leader, at Moosejaw, a place where a considerable ex-American population exists. Mr. Bergeron, a former member of the Dominion House of Commons, wdiA is making the political tour with Bordern, was speaking about reciprocity, and said that the case of Mr. Feilding', the Canadian Finance Minister, resembled that of Samson. He had fallen a victim to the seductive blandishments of a Delilah. the Delilah of the White House, Mr. Taft.
A reporter, in giving the speech, converted Mr. Taft into Mrs. Taft, and the consequence lias been a great outcry among the American section of the population. Mr. Jones, the American ConsulGeneral at Winnipeg, has taken up the case, having been requested to make an investigation.
Mr. Bergeron's explanation that he meant President Taft, and not his wife, when he spoke of the Delilah of the White House in illustration of Mr. Folding's position, has been accepted. The American Consul-General has declared himself satisfied, and the matter will be dropped.
