Til St. Mary's Hall last Monday evening a large number of friends and memburs of the parish assembled to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Skinner and family, who have left since then for their home ill Blenheim. Mr. Skinner, who .for many years had been a very keen interest in all church matters, was ably assisted by his wife and daughters, all of which were referred to by the Rev. 'AFTERNOON TEAS. A most enjoyable afternoon tea was given on Thursday afternoon at Mrs. Burgess' charming residence. The draw-ing-room was charmingly decorated with japonica, while the dining-room was massed with bowls of mauve Argentine sweet peas, lightened with the table, decorations of white Australian creeper. The competition prizes, which were beautiful, were wuii by Mrs. E. George and Mrs. Fitzhcbcrt. Miss Godfrey, with her niece, Miss Arden, have gone for a trip to Christrhurch.

Miss G. Shaw is the guest of Miss Ella Hursthouse, Wellington. Miss Short, who has been for some time on the teaching stall' of Miss Stanford's School (Chetwode), left finally for her home in Auckland,

Mrs. Brewster is the guest of the Hon. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel, Royal Oak Hotel, Wellington. Miss M. Fookes is visiting her sister, Mrs. Pat Fitzlierbfirt, Dannevirke. Miss Blundell, who haß been the guest of Mrs. Mules, returned on Thursday.
