SOME CAKE RECIPES. Rich Cheap Cake —Beat well the yolks of three eggs and the whites of two with one cup of fine sugar. Beat in one-half cup condensed milk, one and two-thirds cups sifted flour, two heaping teaspoons baking powder, one-half teaspoon lemon, one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Butter generously two large cake tins. Put together with frosting made with one white of egg and two-thirds cup of sugar beaten together. Afternoon Tee Cakes.—One cup Bugar, one cup raisins, one-half cup butter, one teaspoohful cinnamon, one-half teaspooDiul •cloves. Stir this together, and put on 'stove and let come to the boil. Cool, then add two cups of flour with one teaspoonful of soda. Put in gem pans, and bake in a quick oven. A tea that you will appreciate is the "Mikado" Blend, a tea that costs but eighteenpence a pound, and tastes like that worth 2s. It is a good strong flavory tea, with plenty of body, and extremely pleasing to the palate. For family use it is unequalled, for it is inexpensive and good.
