CHARGE OF FRAUD. jßy Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, August 23. Mrs. Ethel Campbell has been remanded on a charge of obtaining £l5O from Mrs. Foote, a New Zealander. The parties journeyed from Adelaide on the steamer Commonwealth last April. Accused alleged that her effects had been robbed at a London hotel, and she obtained assistance from Mrs. Foote. FROZEN TO DEATH. New York, August 23. Two tourists, a Mr. Skinner and his wife, were frozen to death on the summit of Pike's Peak. It is believed that they were overtaken by a storm, and lost their way. EXPLOSION ON A STEAMER. London, August 23. It is reported from Matadi, Congo Free State, that the German steamer Edea was unloading gunpowder when an explosion killed three whites, including one of the ship's offioers, and ten natives.
