MILK VENDOR FINED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Palmerston North, Yesterday. Two milk vendors wore; fined £1 and costs at the Magistrate's Court to-day for selling milk for human consumption below the standard" required by the Act. In one case the butter-fat was actually above the requirement, 'but the solids fell below. In the other ease in which the vendor bought milk from a registered dairy the butter-fat was also above the standard. MUNICIPAL ENTERPRISE. Palmerston North, August 23. For some time past the Borough Council has been conducting a municipal moving picture show, the only one of its kind in New Zealand. For the six months it showed a profit of £M a week, but lately, owing to the difficulty of securing good films, it has not been so successful. Last night the Opera House Committee of the Borough Council decided to discontinue the venture until such time as arrangements could be made for procuring up-to-date programmes, for which the Council is negotiating.
