THE AMERICAN TARIFF.
DEMOCRATIC MEASURES VETOED. By Cable—Press Asswation—Copyright, Washington, August 22. The Congress has ended its session. President Taft vetoed the Cotton Bill, a Democratic measure lowering tariffs on cotton imports. All the Democratic measures have now been vetoed. The. party, when the winter session is beiig held, will endeavor to pass the Bills over the veto if President Taft, then having ready a report of the tariff, board which he appointed, does not agree to accept the Democratic Bilk. It is believed that the President is not likely to be further opposed in the Lower House.
