ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FATAL CAB ACCIDENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. A cab accident occurred on Milton road to-day, resulting in the death of two women and serious injury to another. While the cab was coming down the hill one of the horses stumbled and dragged the driver of}' his seat and along the road till he was forced to let go the reins. The horses then bolted, and at the bottom of the road ran over two women standing on the footpath. The occupants of the cab, Mrs. and Miss Ruth Anderson, visitors from Wellington, were thrown out. One of those on the footpath, Mrs. Baker, the wife of a local butcher, and Mis* Ruth Anderson died in the hospital ail hour or two later. The other woman on the footpath, Mrs. Porson, had a leg broken. The driver escaped with a lacerated forearm. The imder-pa.rt of the cab was smashed to atoms, and one of the horses so 'badly injured that it had to be destroyed.
