"MANY HAPPY RETURNS." By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Sir James Carroll was tendered a com-plimentni-y social to-night, the occasion being his .54th birthday. He received an address, accompanied by 4075 signatures (this amount will be made up to 7300). Sir Jwnies was t'he recipient of encomiums from several public men, and in reply stated that words failed what he felt on receiving such expressions o.f goodwill on the occasion of his birthday.
