SOME CAKE RECIPES
Rich Cheap Cake.—Beat well the yolks of three eggs and the. whites of two with one cup of fine sugar. Beat in one-half cup condensed milk, one and two-thirds cups sifted flour, two heaping teaspoons baking powder, one-half teaspoon lemon, one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Butter generously two large cake tins. Put together with frosting made with one white of egg and two-thirds cup of sugar beaten together. Afternoon Tea Cakes.—One cup sugar, one eup raisins, one-half cup butter, one teaspoonfill cinnamon, one - half teaspoonful cloves. Stir this together, and put on stove and let come to the boil. Coo!, then add two cups »f Hour witlh one teaspoonful of soda. Put in gem pans, and bake in a quick oven. A tea that you will appreciate is the ''Mikado" Blend, a tea that costs but eighteenpence a pound, and tastes like that worth 2s. It is a good strong llavory tea, with plenty of body, and extremely pleasing to the palate. For family use it is uucqunlled, for it is inexpensive and good.
