ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES

1 STRATFORD'S PROTEST. A meeting was lield in tlie Borough Council Chambers on Friday night to consider the recent readjustments of electoral .boundaries, the Mayor (Mr. J. Masters) presiding. The Mayor said thnt at the request of a number «f electors he had culled the meeting, and there seemed to'be a great deal of reason for dissatisfaction. He moved the following resolution: "That this meeting respectfully protests against the nlerations of 'boundaries recently announced H>v the Representation Commissioners, and would respectfully ask that the boundaries be amended bo tlwt the whole of the Stratford County be included in the electorate, on the ground that those parts of the county at present excluded, which include Cardiff, Ho win and Alalioe, have more community of interest with Stratford than wit*!! Egmont, and that the districts of Oniuna., Mangamingi and Meremere be excluded from the electorate, on the pound that they have no community of interest with the remainder of the electorate; and that a copy of this resolution l>c forwarded to the member for the district with a. request that he present same to the Representation Commission--CPS." Mr. C. D. Sole seconded. Mr. X. J. King snid it would be Jietter for the whole of the electors if the whole of tlie Stratford County were included in the electorate. _Mr. S. H. James said that the commissioners had to take into consideration the community of interest. Mr. Healy said Omona should be included, but Meremere should il>e cut out. Mr. Joseph McChiggage said ha thought the Mayor of Stratford and the chairman of the County Council should be sent to Wellington with a free Imnd. Mr. King favored the inclusion oI Omona in tlie Stratford district. Tt was decided to strike Omona out oI the resolution. The motion as amended was carried.
