Mr. and Mrs. K. Cock arc expected to return home from their Australian trip on Thursday.
A Oisborne telegram states that Mr. Lysnar. Mayor of Oisborne, lias intimated his intention to resign the Mayoralty upon medical advice. At a meeting held in Wellington on Friday it was decided to organise a benefit concert for the purpose of providing funds to send Miss Renee Queree, pianist, to Berlin to continue her musical studies.
A Sydney cablegram reports that the name of Bishop Frodshnm, of North Queensland, is prominently mentioned in connection with the vacant Bathurst see, but the bishop lias intimated that lie is unlikely to accept the position. The d«ath took place at New Plymouth yesterday of Mrs. Cape), a resident of these parts for practically the whole of her life. She had been ailing for but a short time. She leaves five daughters-Mrs. (Dr.) Fookes. Mrs. L. A. Nolan, Mrs. Hugh Oood, and the two Misses Oapel, who will have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends in their somewhat sudden bereavement.
