Early calvers'made £6 10s to £ll, later £4 to £O, heifers £6 to £9, bull £5 ss. At Mrs. Bonner's clearing sale on Skinner road on the 10th inst., there was only a small attendance, and the cows, which were not in first-class condition, did not meet with the same demand as at previous sales. Early calvcrs £0 to £l4, later £4 to £5 10s.
At I'renui on the 11th inst. at my yards, I sold Mr. H. Barnitt's and Mr. C. Musker's dairy herds. I The sale of Mr. H. Purdie's herd at Waitara road on Wednesday attracted a very large attendance. The cows, which included a number of good grade Jerseys, were a nice lot, but a fair number were aged. The factory returns for the last two seasons had averaged over £l2 10s per cow, and this fact, added to Mr. Purdie's reputation of having heavily culled, was no doubt responsible for the eagerness of buyers. Bidding from start to finish was very keen anil prices realised were a record for so large a dairy of grade stock. The cows averaged £ll os, and the heifers calved and close to profit £lO 7s. Prices realised were: Grade dairy cows in milk and springing £ll to £11) 10s, late calvers £8 10s to £S Ifls, heifers in milk and springing £6' 15s to £ls 10s, inoalf heifers £4 10s to £ll 10s, empty cows £3 ss, calves 10s to 225. yearling heifers £2 lis to £5 1 Os, pedigree brill (Lord Parkdale) Sgns.
