MINING

TELLURIDES PROPRIETARY, LTD. Following is the mine manager's report for the fortnight ending August 12:— Gordon.—The main low level crosscut in this action has been advanced 34 feet for the fortnight through a splendid class of country, highly charged with interlaced veins of quartz. On Thursday, 10th inst., the development of the new lode was commenced, going north from the cross-cut. This lode will in future be known as the "George," and is at present six feet in thickness and showing telluride ore. Volunteer—Driving operations in this section have been at a standstill since the 2nd of the month, owing to our hawing to timber the drive, but this will be completed in the course of a day or two, and driving will be then resumed.
