MU* Eileen Ward is not returning to New Zealand with the Prime Minister's party, but will probably stay in England for some months as the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Boys. * Mr. Hammond, who has been a member of the New Plymouth Magistrate's Court staff for a few months, is under transfer to Naseby. He will be succeeded by Mr. J. Home, of Napier. Captain Wright, who is shortly leaving Ilawera to take up his new appointment in London, ha*, been the recipient of a couple of presentations from organisations with which he has l>een closely associated (says the Star). At the last parade of the liawera Boy Scouts, Mr. Wright, who is Provincial Commissioner for Taranaki, was presented with a "pendant of thanks," the Scouts badge of appreciation for the valuable service he has rendered the movement. The presentation was made by District Commander Salmon, and he voiced the regret of tlie boys at Mr. Wright's departure. On Monday evening the Hawera Infantry Territorials presented their captain with a beautiful rug. Lieut. Bishop, who was spokesman, referred in eulogistic terms to the great amount of work Captain Wright had put in for the corps. Several ex-members, who only this year retired from service, subscribed to the presentation.
