METROPOLITAN COMMITTEE. A meeting of (lie Taranaki Metropolitan Committee was held on Tuesday night. Present:—Messrs. Lcpper (chairman), Thomson, Sole, Hempton, Elliott, W. C. Weston, Standish, Blundell, and Alexander.

Clareburt, D. Knight, li. ,J. Milne, Chas. Jackson, Rangi Makawe Jockeys: W. >H. Copestake, W. T. Ayrc, A. D. Adams, I). Home, L. Kemp, R. J. Kelly, P. Holmes.

It was decided to inform the Wanpnnni J.C. that the committee had no objection to Edward Copestake's application for u jockey's license. Tho secretary reported that he had issued a jockey's license to Tlios. Pine, as the Hawke's Tfeiv .1.0. had no objection. It was resolved (o levy on the country clubs «s follows, to reimburse country representatives their expenses 'at the late conference: —Kgmnnt 15.C., £7 7s; Stratford £4 IKs; Opitnakc R.C.. £2 9s.

TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. The committee then, sat as the faranaki Jockey Club Committee. The Hon. O. Samuel, wrote enclosing a cheque for £lO 10s. refund of his expenses at the conference. A heavtv vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Samuel for his donation.

Mr. C. O'Connor accepted the position of starter. Mr. Geo. Morse wrote accepting the position of handieapper, and recommending Mr. Die Shannon as his substitute for the second day of the, Christmas meeting.—The recommendation was adopted. The Taranaki Agricultural Society granted, on the usual terms, the use of the dub's grounds, etc., for its spring show on November 22 and 23. The Pukekura Park Board wrote regarding tree* at the rear of the caretaker's cottage. The matter was left 1 in the hands of the secretary to arrange I for necessary lalhor to have trees felted, the curator of the park to point out which trees are (o be felled.

Mr. S. Robottom's resignation as a member was accepted.
