Chargea of theft from the wharf sheds are occupying the Police Court, the enumeration o.f the goods alleged to have been stolen bv accused persons making quite, a formidable list. The first case taken was against Joseph Ehrnian and Alfred E. Hadden, who were charged with having stolen goods valued at £2O, the property of Hallenstein Bros. Detective Marsack said the case was one of a number against Elirman, in some cases in conjunction with others, in some cases by himself. On June 27, Hallenstein and Co., of Dunedin, forwarded a ease of goods to their agents in Auckland. The case was discharged into the Harbor Board shed on July 3. Hadden suggested to several persons that they should remove this case. A carter named Nicholson removed it on Hadden's instructions to the railway platform, where Hadden was joined bv Elirman. The marks on the case were altered by ITadden or Elirman by smearing the original mark and substituting J. E. over 11. The case was sent to Stratford, whence it wis traced to Ehrman's possession. It had been opened and the goods plaaed on sale. The greater part of the goods had been recovered and identified.
