' MONTHLY .MEETING. The Taranaki Land Board resumed yesterday morning. An application from W. C. Fletcher for section 12, block 12, Upper Waitara, as an addition to his holding, section (i, was deferred, for ranger's report. Similar action was taken with an application front A. 'I. Crallam. section 3, block 13, Ngatimaru, will also be called upon to show cause why his interest should not be forfeited. 11. T. Twigs reported that W. B. Reid, selector of section 4, block 7, Mahoc, had apparently disappeared from the district. —Resolved to give the mortgagee three months' notice of intention to forfeit Reid's interest. E. Tolmc, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on section 1!), block 13, Ohura, part of the timber reserve, Harvey road. —Resolved that the land be offered for sale or selection under part 3 of the Land Act, 1908, in terms of the ranger's report. ,• E. Mosaman, on behalf of settlers oil the Waikaka road, asking that the thirds from their sections be pledged as payment for interest on loan for forming and metalling that road. —A copy of the letter - will be. forwarded to the Ohura County Council, with a request that the wishes of the settlers be acceded to. 11. T. Twiss, ranger, reported on the inspection of 58 holdings. Improvements done, £39,037; improvements required, £13,304. Fifteen selectors were in default for residence and one for insufficient improvements. E. Tolme, ranger, reported on the inspection of twelve holdings. Improvements effected £8242; required, £3632. Two selectors were in default for residence, and one had not done sufficient improvements. The Board discussed the reports, and decided to call on several selectors to show cause. In other cases an extension of time was granted, whilst others gave satisfactory explanations. E. Tolme reported on section 1, block 15, Ohura, forfeited by August SchultK. —Forfeiture rescinded. The Commissioner submitted pieces of five sections in block S, Upper Waitara, and block 5, Pouatu.—The report was J adopted, and the land will be offered for ( selection under part 7 of the. Land Act, | 1908. It was decided that the attention of the Department be drawn to the ' necessity of milking provision for the

cuusU'iuiiou of road access to the block as soon as possible. The following selectors had not complied with the conditions of residence or improvements:—John Slieehy, section 8, block 9, Waro. —Six months' extension granted to effect necessary improvements. R. Law, section 9, block 2, Mahoe, applied to admit his two sons into partnership owing to his failing health, but the Board decided that before this can be considered he must make the same arrangements with regard to the sub-lease of section 4, block 1-1, I'oiiatu, adjoining. B. McMaster, section 1, block 4, Rangi, residence. —Resolved to grant leave of absence from the section, that the forfeiture lie rescinded, and that the transfer to 11. Richards be approved, Mr. Kennedy referred to the advisability of surveying some sections in Tiihora township, and it was resolved that the necessary survey be put in hand as soon as possible so that the sections may be offered for sale. EDUCATION LEASES. The following transactions in education leases were dealt with by the Board;—

Applications to transfer from C. E. 11. Alien to Paul Collyer, section 13, block 1, Ngatimaru; and E. and W. Everiss to the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., section 03, Mangnnui district, were referred to the ranger for a report. , W. Fairweather was granted a lease of section 068, and part section 475, Pfl.tea district, at an annual rental of 2s (id, with conditions for eradication of; noxious weeds. Consent was given to a deviation ol the Rotoka.re-Campbell road through section 3, block 15, Ngaere.

A schedule of rents, in arrear was laid on the table, and it was decided to institute proceedings for tile recovery of the same, through the Crown solicitor.
