WRECK OF THE FIFESHIRE
PROSPECTS OF SALVAGE UNFAVORABLE. NO WORD OF THE MISSING BOATS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Aden, August 15. The Fifeshire is lying on hard sand and coral in nineteen feet of water. She is broadside on to a heavy swell. The holds are flooded, and she is bumping heavily. The prospect of salvage is unfavorable. She stranded on the evening of the ninth, and was abandoned at noon on the eleventh. The .boat commanded by Woods ha 9 not been seen since leaving at noon on the tenth. Caulfield's was last seen at midnight on the eleventh, seven miles south of Cape Guardafui. The following are the names of the members of the crew in the missing boats: Alvery, W. Brown, Erman, Gannon, Goodwin, Joyce, MacLaren, W. Stewart, 11. Stewart, Waddington, Walthers and Wallace. London, August 15. The following is a list of the passengers by the Fifeshire in the missing boats: From Sydney, Mannix, Mesdames Dale and Mannix, and Miss Owen; from Brisbane, White or Wright, wife, son and daughter, Mrs. and Miss Bladen, also the following members of the crew: Chief Officer Woods, Second Officer Caulfield, Engineers Mackinnon and Laird, and sixteen of the crew. The Fifeshire was insured for nearly £250,000. Sydney, August 10. The Underwriters' Association has been informed that the Fifeshire is a total loss.
