MR FISHER'S RETURN.

IMPRESSIONS OF THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Melbourne, August 13. Mr. Fisher declares that he will resubmit the referendum question at next election, probably in a modified form. Interviewed, Mr. Fisher declared that he had been consulted regarding the Anglo-Japanese treaty, but it was bo obviously a delicate subject that he did not propose to discuss it publicly. Referring to the Imperial Conference, he said he was sure that it would grow even to the extent of embracing other nations.

He declined to criticise Sir Joseph Ward's proposal for an Imperial Legislature.
