CIRCULAR ROAD RACE.
A meeting of the Taranaki Circular Road Race Committee was held on Friday night, the president (Mr. W. J. Williams) being in the chair. There were present: Messrs. Whittle, Cattley, Gunson, Elliott, D. George, A. George, J. C. Morey, sen., J. Bennett, H. Brookes, J. Clarke and J. McLeod. The conditions governing the Challenge Cup were discussed, and a subcommittee was sot up to frame the conditions in conjunction with the donors, the Britannia Tyre Co. The secretary reported that Mr. Renaud had arranged a first-class programme for the evening of the race, in the Theatre, and a committee, consisting of Messrs. Davy, Bennett, Elliott and Brookes was appointed to make all arrangements. The prizes won are to be presented at the concert. The secretary reported that good entries had been received for the seven-a-side football tournament in the Recreation Sports Ground on the afternoon of the road race.
The following additional officers were elected:—Call steward, Mr. Elliott; assistant starter, Mr. A. George; feeding steward, Mr. Davey; numbers, tag, and bicycle sealing stewards, Messrs. J. Clarke, D. George and E. Cattley; press steward, Mr. Brookes; check steward, Mr. Cattley. A protest was received from N. Christiansen (Wanganui) against the winner of the Waitara race, on theground that he was paced by a motor. Consideration was adjourned to.Tuesday night. The whole committee arranged to motor over the course before the date of the race, to confirm and complete sll arrangements en route. ' •
