At a meeting of the Northern Union Association, Mr. Burke, manager of the Auckland tcaju which competed at the" recent championships meeting, asserted that the Now Zealand Council was neither use nor ornament. Any remit not submitted by the council themselves was promptly thrown out. Hegarty had not compete*! at the last two championship carnivals, yet he was chosen for the Australasian championship to be held in Auckland. Having been defeated there, yet he was. selected for the forthcoming championship, passing over Maxwell, of inranaki, who had much better claims. The association ]>assed a resolution to support the protest of the Tnranaki Association and to hold another meeting with the objeet of taking further action.
