SIR JOSEPH WARD.
AMUSES FEDERAL POLITICIANS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received 10, 12.30 a.m. Melbourne, April 0. A cable received by the Federal Government to-day, says Sir J. G. Ward, aboard the steamer en route to Australia, was advised by wireless from Cocos Island of the proposed cession of Tahiti to Germany. Sir J. G. Ward sent back to London a protest on behalf of New Zealand and the other Governments. Sir J. G. Ward's action caused some amusement in Federal circles. Apparently he was unaware that the rumor had been officially denied.
