The Prince of Wales has- joined the .battleship Hindustan.—London cable. The death is reported of the Rev. Mr. Ba'ker, one of the oldest Anglican clergymen in New South Wales. Mr. 11. Palmer, accountant for the British and Continental Piano Company, is on his annual visit to New Plymouth. Captain William Bemlall, for many years marine surveyor to the Wellington Underwriters, died yesterday, aged eighty. Mr. G. Barton, Mayor of Hmvera. has resigned, because of his having failed to receive the support of the Council in a matter of policy. The death is reported at Westmere, Wanganui, of Mr. Edmnnd Talbot, one of the best-known settlers in the district. The deceased, who was 79 years of age, was in his younger days a member of the band of the 48th Regiment, which was for a time stationed at Gibraltar.
