FIRES.

OUTBREAKS AT NAPIER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, Saturday. An outbreak of fire occurred in the heart of the town at 11 o'clock last night, commencing in the tailoring workshop of D. Evans, over F. W. Collins' jeweller's shop. The names obtained a good hold, but the brigade succeeded in confbidng them to one room, which was gutted'. Collins' stock suffered considerably by water. The insurance on the building (owned by H. S. Triggs) was £OOO in the Standard Office. Collins had am insurance on his stock of £l5O in the United, and £2OO in the Phoenix. Evans had an insurance of £SO in the Guardian.

The two-storeyed dwelling at Westshore, owned by the Napier Sailing Club and used as a club-house, was totally destroyed by Are last night. The insurance on the building was £450. in the London and Lancashire Office.

SHOP AND DWELLING BURNT. Dunedin, Last Night. A tobacconist's shop and dwelling in George street, occupied by Alcxaaider Robertson, was partly destroyed by fire at 1.45 this morning. The occupants oi the dwelling, nine in num.iber, made a hurried exit, practically in their night attire. The origin of the fire is* unknown! The stock and fittings were insured for £125 in the New Zealand Office, but the furniture, valued at £SO, was uninsured. The building was owned by Mr. Fyfe, and it is not known if it is insured.

EXTENSIVE BLAZE IN WESTPORT. Westport, Last Night. Fire at 10 o'clock to-night destroyed a two-storey building in the heart of the town, owned by Mrs. McGill and occupied by Mrs. Patterson, milliner, and S. Ji. Freoman, jeweller. The fire had a big hold when discovered, and looked as if it would sweep the block, but by the strenuous efforts of the brigade it was practically confined to the one-storey building. The walls of the premises owned by W. P. Williams, and occupied by Rosenberg, and of the building owned and occupied by Bedell, and of a building in course of erection, owned by G. W. Martin, were partly burned. The goods in Rosenburg's drapery shop and Bedell's tailor's shop sustained much damage by water.
