DISTRICT NEWS.
OAONUI. (From Our Own Correspondent). The first concert and dance since the hall has been enlarged took place on Wednesday last, and was a great success, the seating; accommodation being taxed to its utmost. Mr. J. Young, chairman of the ball committee, presided, and the following programme seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all present:— Piano duet, Misses O'Rourke; solo and chorus, "Dixie," Mr. D. De Forges, and Opunake Glee Club; song, "My Am Folk," Miss Oxenham; duet, "New Life," Mr. and Mrs. Gray; sword dance, Miss | Rookes; solo and chorus, "Dendigo," Mr. IJ. Hiekey and Opunake Glee Club; song, I "Banks of Allan Water,'" Mr. A. Jack-. | son; song (comic), "Put me amongst the I Girls," Mr. A. Taylor; piano solo, Miss j N. O'Rourke; solo and chorus. "Barney . take ime home again," Miss MoArthur and Opunake Glee Club; song, "Queen I of Angels," Miss Oxenham; duet, "Ora Pro Nobis," Mr. and Mrs. Gray; high-; lang fling, Miss Rookes; song (comic), "Don't take me home," Mr. A. Taylor; song and chorus, "In the Valley where the Hhie Bells grow," Mr. Gray and Opunake Glee Club. The accompaniments were plaved by Mr. Cannell. After the concert supper wa* indulged in in the new supper room, a;lx>ut 4Q persons being seated at the taihle each time. The donee .w>ieh followed was most enjoyable, Mr. Cannell again presiding at the piano and supplying excellent music, extras' being played by Miss G. Duncan and Mr. A. Taylor. Mr. Guild delighted everybody by danc- ' ing an Irish jig and a sailor's hornpipe. Mr. H. Young acted as M.C.
