CYCLE ROAD RACE.
"BOUND THE MOUNTAIN." A meeting of the Taranaki Cycle Road Race Committee was held in the Red House Hotel on Wednesday niglit, there being present Messrs. E. Whittle (in the chair), Bennett, Gunison, Davey, Stocker, J. Elliott, A. George, Cattley, J. Clarke, and J. MoLijod (lion, secretary). It was decided to write again to the District Traffic Manager with, regard to delayed trains on the date of the race. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Messrs. Bennett and Wood, Sydney, and to the Britannia Tyre Company for freo advertisements, etc., in the Australian papers. The committee adopted a set of rules and conditions governing tihe race. It was decided to ha.ve all cross-roads guarded and to have scouts to prevent pacing. The committee completed arrangements for feeding the competitors, issuing programmes, checking numbers, etc. Messrs. Clarke, George, and Elliott were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for the accommodation of visiting cyclists, etc. The canvassing sub-committee was instructed to complete the canvass for funds 1 , the committee being still in need of money. Notice of motion was given to rescind the resolution arrived at a<t the last meeting to start the race from the Sports Ground. Further . notice was given of a motion to start the race from Messrs. Burgess, Eraser and Co.'s warehouse. Gill street. lA vote of sympathy with Mir. W. .T, Williams /president. of the committee) in his Teccnt bereavement was carried.
