EAOE CARD APPEAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Ghristchurch, Last Night. Alexander Wildley, who was recently fined £lO and ooßts for Laving printed a race card containing betting information, intends to appeal against the magistrate's decision. NOXIOUS WEEDS REGULATIONS. Dunedin, Last Night. In replying to a deputation to-day, the Hon. T. Mackenzie said he had been gathering a great deal of information regarding the Canadian thistle, and he had evidence of its usefulness for fodder at certain seasons. He contemplated an alteration in the Noxious Weeds Act. The first schedule contained a list of weeds wthich spread, and which must be checked; in the second schedule were weeds which, on a resolution of a local body, might be transferred to the first schedule. It was his intention this session to submit legislation to have the Act'amended to allow certain weeds in schedule one to be transferred to schedule two, giving power of transference to the local body either way.
MAORI LICENSING POLL. Wellington, Last Night. The poll of the Maoris on the local option question is to be taken in Takitimn Maori district on Thursday, September 14. IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. Wellington, Last Night. The 'value of imports into New Zealand during the quarter ended June 30 was £4,310,518, compared with £3,450,879 in the corresponding quarter of 1910. The value of the exports last quarter was £4,738,369, compared with £5,714,578 in the corresponding quarter of last year.
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES. Wellington, Last Night. The arrivals in New Zealand from oversea last June nuimlbered 1909, and departures from the Dominion 3276. Tn June, 1910, the figures were: Arrivals 1974, departures 2452.
