Mr. Wade saw the Lieutenant-Governor on Saturday, but nothing has been disclosed. Mr. Briner now states that he will support the Labor Party so long as it does not make extreme proposals. In a speech at the Commercial Travellers' dinner -Mr. Griffiths, Minister for Public Works, attacked tfye LieutenantGovernor, stating that the electors had said emphatically that the Laber Party were to govern, but Sir William Cullen says that somebody else is to do so. Mr. Storey predicted that there would be a dissolution very shortly. Mr. Dunn, late member for Mudgee, regrets his resignation since the caucus has decided to preserve the existing rights of conversion, and has submitted tyis name to the Mudgee League for reelection. The League declined to consider his candidature, and submitted the name of Carl Johnson to the central executive. MR. WADE FAILS TO FORM A. MINISTRY. Received 31, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, July 31. Mr. Wade states that, owing to inability to persuade the LieutenantGovernor to grant a dissolution he has returned the commission to form a Ministry. Later Mr. Holman was sent for. The result of the interview has not been made public. GOVERNOR GIVES WAY. GOVERNMENT CONTINUES TILL BYELECTIONS ARE DECIDED. Received 31, 10 p.m. Sydney, July 31. Mr. Holman had a second interview with the Lieutenant-Governor, who asked him to withdraw the resignations of the Government, and granted the condition asked for, namely, that Parliament prorogue over the by-elections. -Mr. H<Jlman consented, and the prorogation will be issued to-morrow.
