The Western grain growers' projected formation' of a new Agricultural Federal Party, independent of both Liberals and Conservatives, has been abandoned. There is great relief at the Liberal headquarters, as great losses to the Government forces were feared at the forthcoming elections. POLITICIANS SURPRISED. PREVENTION OF OBSTRUCTION. Received 31, 1.10 a.m. Ottawa, July 30. The dissolution of Parliament surprised politicians, as it was generally believed action would not be taken for at least another week. Much dissatisfaction is expressed at the Government's failure to introduce a Redistributions Bill I based on the census, as Western Canada j and British Columbia will be deprived j thereby of an increased membership, probably amounting to twenty. Manitoba and British Columbia are largely opposed to reciprocity. If returned to power Sir W. Laurier intends to make more stringent rules for the prevention of obstruction.
